Blue & Beanies

MHF FundraiserThis year, Mark Hughes and some fellow mates will be trekking Mt. Everest. Why? To raise funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation to continue their tackle against brain cancer.

Each year, Mark and some well known mates, like Paul “Chief” Harrigan, conquer something amazing to assist in the ongoing fundraising for the foundation. Last year, a team took on the Kokoda Coast to Coast Challenge (Bike – Trek – Bike) from 6 to 16 June. The challenge brought fears, tears, injuries, laughter, smile and accomplishment. It also raised a large sum for the Mark Hughes Foundation. So, this year it’s Everest.

And we’re helping!

We’ve launched our very own “$ for $” Mark Hughes Foundation fundraising campaign, which will donated in support of their Mt. Everest Trek. Don’t get me wrong, funds raised will not cover their costs, flights, or gear, it will be wholeheartedly, 100% donated to MHF.

IMG_4671The Club has set up a donation point in the foyer for all those who wish to donate, any amount. We’ve even got beanies for sale. If you missed out before, you can now purchase one from Reception. Which leads me to the whole point of this blog…’Blue & Beanies’ day.

On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August, the Club will be allowing Staff, Management, Directors, Members and Guests to wear their MHF beanies in the Club, they’ll also be dressed in blue, to assist in raising awareness of our campaign and the “brain cancer tackle”.

Every dollar that is dropped into our donation point, every dollar calculated from the sale of beanies, will be totalled for the Club to match. In short, whatever the members, guests and staff have donated and raised, will double when the Club adds in its own donation.

If you’d like to assist MHF and the Club in tackling brain cancer, you can visit us in Club, head to our website or go direct via the MHF everyday hero page for Mt. Everest.

The Toronto Workers Club $ for $ campaign will end Saturday 7 October 2017.

Party like a Pirate

Pirate Playland

IMG_0534Setting sail from the cove of Toronto Workers Club are children’s birthday parties. Complete with a party host, food, drink, ice-cream cake, decorations, 2 hours of non-stop fun, invitations and more.

The first of our parties in July are booking up and our party staff are as excited as the mini-pirates themselves.

Pirate Playland opened on Saturday 3 June with a grand opening complete with a 6 foot tall balloon pirate, pirate face painters, free food for the kids and more. Since then our ship has been a massive hit for children of all ages.

IMG_4453When you book a Pirate Party you receive exclusivity to the party room with direct access to Pirate Playland. Although, the pirate ship isn’t exclusive, it’s still the perfect setup for a party.

Since we’ve launched, we’ve had all sorts of questions raised. So we took the time to put together some Frequently Asked Questions. Which, we ask you read before sending through your online booking enquiry.

IMG_4452Recently we did a photo shoot of some very lucky mini-pirates who got to party and play while smiling for our cameras. We can’t wait to launch the advertising campaign with our mini-models. They did a fantastic job. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our major campaign.

If you’re interested to know more, or book your child’s party, check out our Pirate Party Booking Form and webpage. Our party staff  would love to discuss your plans.

Pirates will Play

Pireat Playland_f

Well it’s true, it’s finally happening! The current Kids Play Area at the Clubs has been demolished and painting is beginning.

The current area closed for renovations on Monday morning (22 May). We understand the pressure this places on parents, and children, to keep occupied during their visits to the Club. But we promise, the next two weeks will fly by quickly. During that time you’ll see new pieces go in, walls transformed, floors changed and eventually a brand new Pirate Ship will dock.

Pirate Playland is on it’s way. Pretty sure we’re more excited than you right now.

Pirate Playland Opening Soon_3On Saturday 3 June, we will officially open the brand new Pirate Playland area to all members and visitors of Toronto Workers Club with a full pirate weekend. You know, so all pirates get their play.

Broken into two sessions on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4, each little pirate can enjoy pirate hosts with face painting, eating one of our pirate ship meals for free and possibly picking up one of the prizes for being the best dressed pirate. The times are 12 until 2pm and then again 6 until 8pm.

We recommend, due to the hype of the event, you get in quick to book your table during those times. The new playland is in high demand and we totally understand why. You can make your reservation by phoning 49592011.

But once the playland is open, it won’t stop there. There will be more news to come on our Pirate Playland Adventures, so be sure to stay tuned across all our social media and online communication.

PS – big Pirates also welcome…our team will be joining in!

Oh Yeah Yee-Haa!

YeeHaa Hoedown

You’re sitting in your lounge room, kids watching TV and winter chill has set it. Slippers, dressing gowns, heaters and soup are all a necessity. Hold on though, don’t get too comfy, Saturday 27 May will warm you up with a Yee-Haa Hoedown. How you ask? Well let me tell you (we can even show you)!

https://youtu.be/d05tQrhNMkA – Ok, so Brooks & Dunn won’t be at the Workers Club but you get the gist on how you can warm up with Bev Sandiford & the Coastal Bootscooters (show in photo below). Coastal BootscootersWith live performances, they’re even going to throw in some crash courses in learning to boot scoot. This is all happening from 3pm – 5pm in the Club’s Main Lounge. Adults, Kids, Learners, Experts, you’re all welcome to come down and scoot up the dance floor!

So you’ve got your steps down packed, ok maybe the kids do, you’ve still got to practice. They can then take their newest talent down to the Kids Area for the Free Cowboy Cowgirl Disco from 6pm. All the while you feed them for free!

You’ve rested, eaten, refuelled and ready to boogie. Chad Shuttleworth Duo will deliver fantastic country tunes, because now it’s your turn to practice your new talent. You can scoot around the floor, we’ll even let you make up your own steps, as long as you like from 8pm. Again, not Brooks & Dunn, but these guys have got the voice and the talent, don’t worry, they’ll deliver!

So, are you warm yet?

Yee-Haa Hoedown_2Now while you sip on your cup of tea, toasting in front of your heater in your favourite uggies, think “what would I do with $20,000?”

Oh did we forget to mention, the night you’re dancing, warming up, burning the dance floor and feeding the kids for free, you could also win a neat $20,000 cash, just by being in the Club at the time of the draw. Of course you have to be a member, but that’s easy. We can fix that up for you.

Hmmm what else? The Club will be filled with our very own Cowboys and Cowgirls; the country version of the TWC Group A-Team. The Jose Ho-Down cocktail will feature for the day, and you know what, why don’t you dress up as well for some fabulous photo opportunities?

Are you warm now?

Good. Then hop up, put the Yee-Haa Hoedown on your Calendar, send out the SMS to your mates to get them to make a fool of themselves with you, and make your dinner reservation at the Club by phoning 49592011.

We look forward to seeing you…. and your “boot scootin’ boogieeeeeeeee” (you sang that part didn’t you?)

$20,000; Easy Peasy!

$20K Super Saturday

For a while there was some chatter about how hard $20,000 was to win. Then, the $20,000 dry spell stopped and in two week’s we gave away a combined total of $40,000!

Judy Muir 22 04 2017 (3)

Judy Muir with CFO, Ben Launt collecting her $20,000.

Both winners, Judy Muir and Marcello Salvini were on the Club premises when their membership number was drawn. Then all they had to do was show their membership card and $20,000 in cold hard cash was all theirs!

What would you do with $20K if you won it?

There’s still plenty of chances for you to claim $20,000 before the promotion ends.

Drawn every Saturday night between 6pm and 7pm, then another drawn between 7pm and 8pm, your number could be lucky enough to be called. Even if it’s not, you could pick up a swift $500 cash, just by being the closest membership number on the premises to that drawn.

Either way, you could claim some cash thanks to the Toronto Workers Club Group.

With every draw there are some conditions. Including, being on the premises (within the Club) at the time your membership number is drawn to be eligible to claim the money; otherwise if you enter the Club after the announcement, you will forfeit your prize money. Let’s be honest, no one wants that.

You also need to be a full financial members of the Toronto Workers Club Group. Any full membership can win including 1 year, 5 year, perpetual, golfer or pensioner. As long as you’re over 18 years of age and have a valid membership card (and in some circumstances appropriate identification), if you’re drawn out, we’ll give you $20,000.

Other full terms and conditions apply and can be obtained from the Club.

So, good luck to over 12,000 members of the Toronto Workers Club Group, this Saturday and every Saturday until the last draw June 24, 2017. Want further information, you can always email us.

$20K…it’s worth being present!

Everyone loves Lego, even the big kids, so this time we’ve launched two Lego Workshops. Wednesday 12 and Wednesday 19 April. A Pirate Lego Workshop and an Underwater Lego Workshop. The Lego workshops are a little more involved and are open to children 6 to 12 years of age.

Then to finish us up we’ve got one for all the Mermaids at heart, with an Underwater Party on Tuesday 18 April. Proudly presented by our Mermaid Host there will be games, activities and prizes.
