Team “Super Workies”

In July 2016 the Toronto Workers Club Group handed creative control to our team. The only conditions…they could have one Saturday a month to introduce a fun atmosphere between themselves, customers and the community.

The first of those creative days was “Frankenstein Day”. They brought in a frankenstein-day_2016_photo-galleryclassic hearse, implemented some themed cocktails and dressed in their best Frankenstein impressions possible. With a little encouragement we let the customers vote for their choice of Best Dressed Team Member. There were three clear cut winners… 1st place: Marissa Rawnsley; 2nd place: Ashlea Wheeler; 3rd place: Kim Werner. Frankenstein Day was the start of something fantastic within each staff member.

From there we went to Super Heroes and Comics. Each of them could impersonate their favourite Comic Book character or Super Hero for the day. We had a few Captain America’s, Wonder Women, Cat Women, Clarke Kent’s and many other interpretations. Comic Day related to the customers and their children. Bringing smiles and happiness to many little Super Heroes who also took part in the day. Again, customers could vote for their choice of Best Dressed Team Member. Another three clear cut winners comic-day_gallery_1were determined…1st place: Captain America (Simon Biggs); 2nd place: Cat Woman (Charmaine Young); 3rd place: Wonder Woman (Katerina Massey). A Batman quote could sum up the staff participation in Comic Day in one line, “It’s now who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me”.

The outcome of Comic Day gave the staff an insight into the positive influence they actually have on the Lake Macquarie community and the families that patron the Club. This gave them all a renewed boost of motivation and participation.

Halloween concepts were implemented over a three day spook-tacular period. Team dress-up was only one night, but again they over indulged and encouraged customer participation of both the young and old. All members were up on the regular voting procedure and a new vhalloween_2016_gallery1oting strategy was implemented so again, they could pick the Best Dressed. This time the prizes went to…1st place: Trick & Treating Witch (Vicki Williams); 2nd place tie was between:
Cafe Kitty (Marissa Rawnsley) & Green Horned Lady (Livia McEwan); 3rd place: Luigi (Simon Biggs).

With brand new concepts, dress-up ideas  and an open creative flair, these staff members have planned the next 12 months which will be enticing to all!
